Cards are therapy - and some are pink!

Woah, has it been a tough couple of weeks!  Really it's been tough even longer than that.  You don't come here to read my complaints, but my job is making it hard to keep my head up.  So much pressure.  I come home and don't have the energy for absolutely anything.  And then my computer died!  Turned out to be the motherboard.  I ended up replacing the mobo, cpu and RAM.

And because of that, I have not even been reading many blogs, as you may have noticed by my distinct lack of comments recently.  But I tried to catch up today!  Hopefully some of you saw comments from me, since I think I left about 50 comments this afternoon!  And a lot of those were on Collecting Cutch posts, doing my part to Save Second Base!

On that note, here is my Pink card of the day in support of Cutch:

The HOFer and slick fielder, Robbie Alomar!  Love the look of this card.

Anyways, as usual, when things are tough, bloggers come to the rescue.  You guys are a pretty cool bunch.  And I needed that!

Three days in a row last week, I got little packages of cards from folks looking to brighten my day.  At least that's what I think they were going for, because none of them had to send the cards they did, it was all out of the goodness of their hearts.  MEGA Appreciated!!  Here are a few of the things that were sent my way...

The first package in the mailbox was from Jeff of Wax Pack Wonders
Jeff put some thought into this one!!  That Frank White may not seem like much to you, but if you read my post about it, you know that it means something to me!  I'm very appreciative to Jeff for hooking me up, and bring me back to the 'good old days'.  And the other cards are right off my wantlist!  Thanks a TON, Jeff!

Next up was a load of cards from Julie at A Cracked Bat
There were more than just these, but this was all I could fit on the scanner.  A major chunk toward my 2001 Archives Reserve set!  This was the largest single contribution to this set build.  In the days since, it has been surpassed, but to see the even bigger haul, you will have to come back in a day ot two!

Anyways, wonderful package, Julie!  You rock!

And finally, an out of the (Dodger) blue, a package showed up from Night Owl!!
Again, all sides of my wantlists got hit!

Vintage!  All of them are cool, but I think my fave is the Ryne Duren.  It was slightly off during printing and has a slightly 3D look.  Excellent!

Trout!  Way colorful, a funky looking card.

Die-cuts!  And Dodger die-cuts to boot.  Great cards. excellent additions to my collection.  But that's not all...

The Owl threw in the Big League Trout to cut out!  I'm gonna have fun with that one!  I just hope that when I send it in to get graded, PSA doesn't mark it as 'trimmed'.  And those of you who have received cards from Night Owl recently have probably gotten his sharp new business card with the beautiful new logo.  Right on!

Anyway, I've said it before, and so have many others, but the bloggers in our community are pretty amazing with their generosity.  And Jeff, Julie and Greg also have some great timing, becasue they helped pull me out of my funk.  Thanks guys!!

  1. Happy they were well-timed.

When my computer dies, you won't see me on the blogs for probably a lot longer than you were gone.

  3. I value this community. We all need a little pick-me-up here and there. Happy you enjoyed the cards! I don't recall ever seeing the Reel Time insert. Pretty sharp! Package from Night Owl is awesome!

    1. It is from the 1989 Franklin Caramel Series 1. Some unlicensed set. But yes, it is cool!

  6. Shawn Kemp! And look at all of those Reserve's!

I've had a terribly busy month too, so I can empathize. It's very difficult to blog when you're tired/burned out.
