I got the BlUes

For some of you, this may be the most boring post you've read...

I'm in the process of scanning my keeper collection.  It's a slog and will probably take months at the very least.  I store my cards by player, alphabetically.  And that's how I am scanning, in alphabetical order.

I recently got to the end of the B's, and ran into a section of players that I really like, but who just can't stay healthy.  I'm wondering if I should de-emphasize some of these, as these guys are starting to look like they may never live up to their early potential.

Anyway, here are the 30+ scans of the players with last names starting with BU.  Hence the title of this post, I got the BlUes...

So in your oh so humble opinions, which of these players are 'worth' collecting to you?  Any of them?  Are any of them going to get past the injuries and become as great as they can be?

  1. I already collect Buhner, Buehler, and Bumgarner,

  2. Buxton may never be healthy but if he gets into 120 games a year, he should provide some thrills over the course of his contract.

Bumgarner has the most accomplishments, but seems like he's done barring a late career big league resurgence.

Buehler may always be dealing with injuries where his MLB career ends up shorter, but he's a pretty good pitcher when healthy.

Buhner was a fun player in his day - if I was to collect him, I'd look for his 'fun cards' like the one pictured.

I wouldn't go out of my way to collect those three, unless they played for my team.

  3. Of the players shown, I would continue to look for cards of Buxton and Buehler. I do think they have a chance to live it up to their hype.

  4. I've gone out of my way to buy Buehler and Bumgarner cards before. First BU name that popped into my head was Bill Buckner.

    1. I do have some Buckner cards, but somehow he didn't make it into this post! Oops.

  5. I collect everyone in this post aside from Jay Buhner, and on top of that, I've yet to come up with a good explanation as to why I never inducted Buhner into my binders. He certainly has some great cards - the one you showed may well be his best.

  6. It's a shame that Bumgarner couldn't do it in Arizona - being a Giants fan, in 2019 I was still hoping to see him in the Hall of Fame. Oh well.

That said, I can't feel too much remorse over Buehler, but a Dodgers fan probably would considering his problems with injuries.

Honestly, I'd keep collecting all four. They're all pretty fun players.
