Heritage Parallel Question

All right, all-knowing blogosphere, here's my question:

The black and red bordered Heritage cards below are numbered in the SP portion of the set (from 425 to 500).  Does the SP designation (and implied scarcity) apply to these or are they not rare at all?
Any other info on these cards would be appreciated too!!

Because it was a Nickel - Part 23

Nickel-Box, Day 23!!  It all started here many posts ago.

28 days of Nickel-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 23:
1981 Fleer Gary Carter

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  The Kid!  I bought this because I love the old Expos colors.  And it's still hard to believe that Gary Carter is gone.  He was one of the good ones!  And it was a nickel!!

28 days of Nickel-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 22:
2013 Gypsy Queen Framed Blue Josh Johnson and Derek Holland each #d /499

Why I bought them:  They were each a nickel!  Serial #d framed cards from one of the most popular sets around?  Of course.  The Gyspy Queen base cards don't do a lot for me, but the framed cards add a level of depth that is much more appealing.  And they were each a nickel!!

1987 Toys R Us Will Clark RC

1989 Upper Deck John Smoltz RC

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  Can you say underrated?  That's my opinion on Smoltzie.  Over 200 wins.  And when asked, immediately spent 3+ seasons as a top flight closer.  Only 154 saves in those 3 seasons, not bad!  Then right back to starting.  That's a team player there, and dominant to boot.  And it was a nickel!!

Making up for my Birthday

Well, it was my birthday a couple of days ago, and once again, I didn't get anything card related from my family.  I don't really blame them, but I want cards!!

Luckily, my fellow bloggers have come to the rescue as I received a couple of packages in the mail this week!  First up was a monster package from Jeff, who if he has a blog, I am unaware of it.  But even without a blog, he knows how to fill a box of cards!  Below is a small sampling of the many, many basketball inserts he sent my way.

I'll be working hard on a return package after that!!

Next up is one from Madding at Cards on Cards. He has been posting Up for Grabs posts where he offers various 'baseball cards' for 'trade'.  I recently jumped on a bunch of Mark McGwires he posted.  But before we get to Big Mac, Madding threw in some extras!!

The first two are excellent additions to my SCAM Project, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens.  The Bonds is a Factory Set only addition, I think, and the Clemens is a 'Hobby Reserve' parallel.  Awesome!  And a 95 Diamond Kings Joe Carter.  This year of Diamond Kings is kind of weird.  Sometimes I like them, sometimes not.  But I do like the Carter.

And as for McGwire, there were many.  Many, many!  I think I have close to 750 unique McGwires now.  My favorite from those sent by Madding was this:
I love it because they spelled his name wrong!  McGuire!  Sportflics must have had some real good QA guys back then!

Thanks Madding!

28 days of Nickel-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 18:

2013 Topps Heritage Yoenis Cespedes New Age Performers

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  Actually, I don't know.  I do like Cespedes, and I like young potential too.  But the design doesn't do much for me.  The picture is so-so.  I guess I just saw a young stud on a new insert and threw my money away.  I'm OK with that!  And it was a nickel!!

1987 Fleer League Leaders

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  Late 80s Fleer mini-sets were pretty cool.  I LOVE Eddie Murray in Orioles orange!  What a beast.  And it was a nickel!!

PWE Failure

Since I started my little PWE campaign almost 2 months ago, I've sent out 37 PWE's with no return to senders.  Until yesterday.  I don't send too many cards in my PWE's, usually between 4 and 8, mostly because I want to avoid returns.  This one came back with 'return to sender - nonmachinable surcharge'.  Basically, it was too rigid to go through the machine.

Now this one wasn't any different than the rest I've sent out, so I'm going to try it again.  But I hope this doesn't become a recurring issue or it will crimp my PWE lifestyle a bit!

Oh, for the unlucky soul, waiting for their precious PWE, the zip code was 92688.

Nickel-Box, Day 16!!  It all started here many posts ago.

28 days of Nickel-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 16:

1998 Topps Gold Label 'Black Label' parallel

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  Gold Label is one of my favorite sets.  Pudge is one of my favorite catchers.  This card has sparkly writing and an 8x Beckett multiplier.  While the multiplier doesn't say much to me about actual value, it does imply that these Black Label cards were somewhat tough to find.  I like that.  And it was a nickel!!

1972 Sal Bando Xograph 3D

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  The card is 41 years old.  Need I say more?  OK, its a sweet oddball!  More?  OK, how about Mr. Salvatore Leonard Bando looks like he's only one more suggestion from the mamby pamby cameraman from tearing his head off!  And it was a nickel!!

2013 Bowman Heritage Josh Willingham Chrome Refractor

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  Who wouldn't grab this in a nickel box????????????  What a great card!!  I got 2 of these purple/blue refractors from Heritage Chrome and about 5 regular refractors, numbered / 564.  Not much to say here except...  And it was a nickel!!

3 2012 Topps Chrome Orange refractors

Why I bought them:  They were each a nickel!  Well, I'm still a little stuck on refractors since last year's refractor project went so well.  And that means I can't pass by fractors on the cheap!  And orange fractors are among my favorites.  I actually grabbed 7 or 8 of these and about 10 non-orange ones.  All for nickels.  I felt like a thief.    And they were each a nickel!!

28 days of Nickle-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 12:
1991 Leaf Gold Leaf Rookies and 1972 Topps Phil Gagliano autographs

Why I bought them:  They were each a nickel!  Cheap Autos!  The Gagliano is probably real, I mean who would fake a Phil Gagliano auto?  Plus it looks like other autographs of his online.  The Van Poppel?  It looks legit too, but who knows.  That card must have been huge back in the day.  I remember someone at a card show calling Van Poppel 'Nolan Ryan Jr.'.  I'm pretty sure the Braves are glad they didn't take him #1 overall that year though.  They got Chipper Jones instead.  Cool cards...  And they were each a nickel!!

28 days of Nickle-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 11:
1982 Fleer Jack Morris

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  It just looks great in a very 'early Fleer' sort of way.  Horrible cropping, unless you notice how nicely his elbow is centered.  The weird, nebulous blob behind his head makes it look like his hat is casting a shadow.  In fact the whole background seems weird.  The chain link fence over green (grass?) fading directly into light blue (sky?), and the grass to the left of the glove is higher than the grass to the right of the glove.  I smell airbrushing.  Great card!!!  And it was a nickel!!

2013 Gypsy Queen framed white border Marco Scutaro

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  I actually got 6 different White Framed cards from this set.  I chose Scutaro to show on a whim.  This is definitely a case of buying just because they were cheap.  I'll probably add these into packages to various team collectors.  And it was a a nickel!!

28 days of Nickle-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 9:
1985 Drakes Dwight Gooden RC

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  Dwight was one player who had me in awe right from the start.  Soooo dominating soooo young.  Nolan Ryan and Steve Carlton were fighting over the career strikeout record at this time, but it looked like Doc would give them a run for their money.  I grabbed this card without even knowing it was from 1985, simply because it was a cool oddball Doc!  The more I think about it, I might end up keeping this one!  And it was a a nickel!!

Stay tuned for the rest of the series!!

28 days of Nickle-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 8:
2004 Donruss Elite Extra Edition 'Turn of the Century' Huston Street

Why I bought it:  It was a nickel!  Parallel, die-cut, foil board, serial numbered!  That's a quadfecta all in one card.  Looks a lot better than the scan too.  And while it isn't a superstar, it is a player who had an actual career with some success.   And it was a a nickel!!

Stay tuned for the rest of the series!!

Nickel-Box, Day 7!!  If you have no idea what this is all about, go here for the original post.

28 days of Nickle-Box!!  None of these cards are really anything I need for my collection, so if anyone is interested in any of them, hit me up for a spot in my PWE project!  Here is day 7:

3 Canadian Murphy's!!  85 Leaf, 84 Topps and 84 Topps All Star

Why I bought Them:  They were each nickels!  Murphy has always intrigued me.  I met him once as a teenager, and he was huge!  I really remember his size!  Also, the Leaf and O-Pee-Chee brands are really cool.  How about the French on that All-Star card???  And they were each a nickel!!

Stay tuned for the rest of the series!!
