Why doesn't blogger give you an easy way to get some basic stats on your blog??? In this case, I wanted to know who had commented, and how many times. Maybe there is a way, but I couldn't find it.
So I manually copied all the comments out of the posts I was interested in, and used Excel to get the info I wanted. Took a while. I went back to July. I have posted a total of 48 posts since then, and here are the people who have commented and how many comments they made.

As anyone who is paying attention to the blogging world could have predicted, Fuji leads the pack with 46 comments in only 48 posts. Crazy!!
So here is how the contest works. You get as many entries as you have comments above. So acrackedbat (Julie!) gets 17 entries. madding gets 5 and SumoMenkoMan gets 1. You get the idea.
Below are 13 prizes you can spend your entries on. If you want. Nobody is forcing you, and these prizes are not collection makers. In fact, I am assuming that there are prizes so lame that nobody will even want them. You can spend all of your entries on a single prize, or spread them out, whatever you want. More than one prize can be won by a single commenter. Examples of how you could do it:
Example 1: I want to spend 10 entries on prize #3, and 5 entries on prize #7
Example 2: I want all my entries on prize #11
Example 3: I have 13 total entries, I want one on each of the prizes
When the contest closes, I will tally the entries for each prize, and put them in Random.org to determine the winner for each prize.
Here are the prizes:
Prize #1 - 1975 Topps Goose Gossage. Not great shape, but I have seen worse.
Prize #2 - 2020 Bowman Prospects Luis Robert
Prize #3 - 1987 Coca-Cola/SAS Detroit Tigers Kirk Gibson. Most of these I have seen have surface problems on the right side, and this one is no exception.
Prize #4 - 2019 Topps Gallery - Heritage - Green Buster Posey. Weird color scheme. But it's numbered /250.
Prize #5 - 2014 Topps Archives Marco Scutaro. Not sure about this one. It is autographed, and looks very legit. But I can't say for sure.
Prize #6 - 2017 Bowman Draft - Gleyber Torres. In case you don't have one, I guess.
Prize #7 - 1977 Topps Rollie Fingers. A little off centered, and typical 1977 Topps condition.
Prize #8 - 2 cards this time, 2012 Gypsy Queen Black Tom Seaver and 1023 Gypsy Queen Nolan Ryan, both minis.
Prize #13 - 1969 Topps Willie Mays, after having gone through the laundry!
You can comment what you want your entries to be below, or if you want to keep them private, feel free to email them to me.
The contest will close Monday January 4th at 5PM Pacific time.
My 1 entry on the 1969 Topps Mays card. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteFun stuff! I'll email :)
ReplyDeleteGot it!
Delete15 on the Urias and 9 on the Goose ... I'd go for the Mays but I'm sure someone's going to go all in on that.
ReplyDeleteGood call...
DeleteShame on Fuji for missing those two posts. LOL
ReplyDeleteCool idea for a contest/giveaway format! I may have to try something similar one of these days.
I'll split my entries between #12 and 13. Thanks!
I'll spend my one entry on '75 Goose Gossage.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Nice contest idea - apparently I read way more often than I comment here (whoopsie)!
ReplyDeleteI do that too. My new years semi-resolution is to comment more and better
DeleteI will put my 2 mighty entries on the Kirk. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I have a total of 9 so lets do 3 on Prize #2, 4 on Prize #8, 1 on Prize # 9 & 1 on Prize # 4. Thanks Neat idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to have a giveaway - comment score and randomization. I'll have to keep this in mind for my next contest.
ReplyDeleteI'll put 5 on the Robert (#2), 5 on the Urias (#9) and 3 on the Rollie (#7). Thanks for the chance!
I will put 4 entries on the Ripken and 3 on the Griffey oddball. Thanks for the fun posts through the year.
ReplyDeleteHey. Thanks for the contest.
ReplyDelete25 entries on #2 - Luis Robert please.
I’ll put in my 9 entries to the Scutaro autographed card. Thanks for the contest, thanks for the cards I got in the mail today (I love all of them and can use them all as well), your package is in the mail.
ReplyDeleteI’ll put all my money on that Griffey Super Nintendo card. And by all my money, I mean nothing, since I’ve been a ghost. It’s a cool card though, and interesting contest!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think I'm going to have to put 6 on the Mays, because how amazing would it be to own that card? And 1 on the Seaver mini (and the Ryan) just for a shot at it, because that's really cool in its own right.
ReplyDeleteI'll put my 3 on Posey. Thanks, DK!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest! I'll use all my entries on prize #10, been wanting to pick one of those up for my newly founded small basketball binder, fingers crossed...
ReplyDeleteNice concept for a contest! I'll go with 3 for the Ripken, 2 for the Griffey, and 1 on the Mays. Thanks and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteCool! That is a strange color combo on the posey.
ReplyDeleteI'll put 10 on urias and 1 on super Nintendo Chalmers I mean griffey.
Spending all four votes on the '69 Mays! (Thanks for the contest!)
ReplyDeleteLove the generosity, originality and creativity of this contest--kudos to you! I'll use my 2 entries on the Billy Ripken card. Thanks for the contest!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest. You've already hooked me up plenty... and I don't want to mess up the randomizations with my entries... so I'll just sit back and enjoy seeing who ends up with what.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun way to run a contest, so much so that I suspect the idea will be replicated by others in the not too distant future.
ReplyDeleteThere isn't too much for me here, and I don't want to take away anyone else's opportunity to get something that they really want by randomly bidding, so like Fuji, I'll just sit back and see how everything shakes out. Thank you for the chance though, I really do appreciate being included in these kinds of things, even if I don't participate.
Contest closed, I will post the results tomorrow!
