Jason over at Hobbs' Knights recently bit on a bunch of Ripkens I put up for trade. I was hoping to get a couple of things off my wantlists. Yeah, that happened and more. Jason really knows how to trade!! Everything he sent was from my wantlists. And my wantlists are not easy to work with. Thanks Jason!!
First up, two cards that are VERY different from each other. Herman Franks 68 Topps and a Upper Deck Arod RC. Hmmm, stuff they have in common...they're both rectangular. And they come right off my wantlists!
Most of this next bunch of stuff fits into the 'I like shiny' fetish I have. Really, I'm like a raccoon. The Chipper adds to my mini collection of Gallery of Heroes. I love those!
Finally,
Oooooohhhhh! That's the stuff. Those top 3 are just redonkulous. The others ain't bad either! What can I say, I have a weakness for hitting coaches!
Thanks again Jason!

Big Mac Surprise!
Here we have a 1997 Topps Finest Mark McGwire Refractor. I got it in the mail today from one of the best bloggers out there, Greg from Platshke, Thy Sweater Is Argyle. It doesn't really look as 'refractory' as most 'fractors, so I look on the back and, sure enough, there is the word REFRACTOR, right where it always is on Finest. Nice! But what else do I see, but big red letters screaming PROMOTIONAL SAMPLE NOT FOR RESALE. Check it out.
Up until now, I had never seen a sample refractor (I am sure they are all over, but I'm sheltered here in the Great NorthWest). You might wonder how I feel about it being a sample and not the 'real thing'. Well, as the quotes around 'real thing' in the last sentence may have tipped you off, I'm ecstatic! Awesome to the max (or to the Mac). What a wonderful addition to my hard to find McGwires collection! Thanks Greg!
But that's not all, check out the other cool cards he sent me!
Beautiful vintage including a Braves Team Card with Hank Aaron on it another sweet McGwire and three beautiful relics of future HOF'ers (Bonds? I think eventually).
If you haven't had the chance to trade with Greg, or read his stuff (the Erin Hawksworth post is my favorite), then get over to Platshke, Thy Sweater Is Argyle! You wont be sorry!
Thanks again Greg.

Gems from the Emerald City
Larry at Emerald City Diamond Gems runs a nice blog, plus he's just up the road a ways from me. If you haven't been following his stuff, you should.
I sent him some stuff a while back and he reciprocated with these:
Nice variety, I needed 2 of the McGwires too!
These are the gems of the trade for me! They look sooooo cool! They prompted me to go on the Bay and look what boxes of this are going for. Too much, but I really wish! Thanks Larry!

P-p-p-platshke! A-a-a-argyle!
Greg from Plaschke thy Sweater is Argyle recently claimed a Piazza RC I had up for trade bait. Greg claimed it 1st in the comments and Speigel of Nomo's Sushi Platter claimed by e-mail. Since I didn't want to disappoint, I dug into my PC and dragged out another copy of the Piazza Rook. So they both got one!! Aaaaawwwww. Here is what he sent me in return.
While all of these cards are awesome, the Murphy is easily my favorite. It's tough to see in the scan, but the blue aura around the bat piece is reflective and really adds to the card. Thanks Greg!!!Now I need to keep my eye out for another Piazza, but they seem to be easier to find around here than California. I wonder why??????????
Lost Collector
AJ over at The Lost Collector used his blog thingy to showcase a set that he wants to get collecting. I happened to have a card to contribute, so I sent it to him. He sent these cards below as a thank you!!!
Aint blogs great?
Beautiful stuff AJ, thanks a bunch!

Return of the King (cheesy post name edition)
Hey!!
Yeah, it's been a while since I posted, and for that, I apologize. I have had vacation, illness and other boring troubles that nobody wants to hear about. But I'm back!!!!!
I'm gonna start things off with one of a bundle of trade posts I need to get up. This one is from Johnny over at Cards from the Quarry, and boy did he blow it up!!
A variety of miscellaneous! He scored me the Masterpieces SP Nolan Ryan from my wantlists! Now I just need one more to finish the set. The rest of these are just coooool. I don't know much about the Topps 205 Sexson, but it says he's on the Milwaukee Nationals, so that's pretty cool.
Next we have a bunch of serial numbered and refractory stuff. Always very cool. The Chris Young is very nice looking in person.
And last, the basketball inserts. These are cool, I love the weirdness and die-cuts. The Garnett is really beautiful and is an insert set i have been considering chasing, so very welcome. Great trade Johnny, I'll have more Rockies for you soon!
I would be willing to part with any of this except the Garnett, Ryan, Thome and Perry.

Variety from Benny
The package was large. I had been vague about my wants, so BA Benny had worked up a variety pack for me in return for some stuff I had sent him. His blog has the word 'Buffet' in it, so you might expect quite the smorgasbord. And you would be right!
The pic below highlights some of the stuff he sent.As you can see, there are Rookies, Inserts, GU, Parallels, refractory stuff and more! This is just a small sample, so you know the whole lot was a bundle. Thanks Benny!! Get back to posting soon!

rodman and win
Sam at The Daily Dimwit doubled my GU fun with a package today! The Crawford patch is my winnings from his recent contest and the Rodman is the scariest thing that I've ever purposefully traded for!
I love weird and colorful Rodmans for reasons I have never adequately explained, even to myself. I'm afraid that if I dig too deep into my psyche, I may find out things I'd rather not about myself.
Thanks Sam! Let's do it again!

These Cards are Cool!! (lame post name?)
RyanG of This Card is Cool and I recently put together a random trade. I sent him some stuff for his wantlists and his Cardboard Zoo project. Because of the Cardboard Zoo project, Ryan has a great variety of cool inserts, which I love! Here's some of what I got back!
Holy Funkaroni! Many of these cards look a lot cooler in real life.
All are available for trade except the McGwire, Arod, Helton Finest Ballpark Bounties. I'd like to keep the Rolen and Gonzalez, but would trade if you got the goods!!
Thanks to Ryan for a great trade!!! I'll be keeping an eye out for more Zoo stuff for you!

Serve me up a Platter!
I was feeling hungry, so naturally, I went to the mailbox! I got served a platter of sushi by Hideo Nomo!! Actually, it was a nice little package from Spiegel of Nomo's Sushi Platter.
Here's some of the goods!
Sweet! Especially the Pascual Perez. He's a beast, I need a relic of his!

2 trades! This Rhubarb is Cool!
To save you, the lovely readers some time, I'm combining 2 trades in this 1 post. Ryan from This Card is Cool sent me these 2 relic cards in return for some 2009 Upper Deck base cards he needed. The Rice is awesome and straight off my wantlists and the Tejada is a cool bonus. Thanks Ryan!
Next up is a 9 card lot from Rhubarb_Runner from é rayhahn, rayhahn! He got a few Twins from his lists and I get these! A wonderful cornucopia of my collecting wants. I especially love the Maddux (I want this whole set) and Nomo (this set too!) McGwires are ALWAYS welcome! Thanks!
Sorry for the crappy scan...

Trade with someone who likes Cards
Jeff over at My Sports Obsession and I recently worked out a quick trade from some cards he posted. I sent him some Tom Seavers and a few other things and he sent me these!
I love older RC's of 'medium' players like Hough. 72 Topps is cool too! The Yaz is my 1st relic of the last triple crown winner. Doesn't seem likely that we'll see a triple crowner this year either! Awesome. Thanks Jeff!

'Wicked'ness = Happiness!
If you are reading this blog, you no doubt already know all about the 'Don' of the blogging scene, WickedOrtega of My Past Time...I Love it! The man is known for awesome trading and cool hits! I am also participating in an online card draft on his site starting Saturday. Tune in and check it out!
A while back I send Wicked some Mantles for a friend of his and some random stuff. The return package was this week's highlight! Keep in mind that the pics below are only a part of what he sent. There were more mini's, refractors, vintage, ToppsTown, oddballs, inserts, Cards Yo Mama Threw Out and more! Check the stuff out.
First he threw out the complete set of 92 Leaf Gallery of Stars! I've been slowly picking these out of dime boxes for years. Now I have them all! They are so Diamond King'y that I had to have them.
Here's a sampling of the kind of stuff that made up the bulk of the package. Sorry my scanner cut some off.
I don't even know what this is, but once I figure out how to put it together, it will go in my work display!
My favorite o the bunch, directly off my wantlist! George was a baaaaaaad man! I love it! Thanks for being wicked, Wicked!

Trade Post - Jon shoots me some Community Gum
Gotta love Blogger trades! This one is from Jon at Community Gum.
First up are 3 beautiful Dennis Rodman's. Dunno what it is about the Worm. He doesn't fit my personality at all, but I love his cards, the gaudier the better!
Check these three out. They look familiar, but strange at the same time? I've seen tons of 92/93 UD in my life so it came as a surprise that these were out there. They are a foreign issue from somewhere (Italy? Dunno) and have both languages on the back. Awesome!
And, best for last, the G.O.A.T.! I love 90's inserts and want all the cool shininess I can get, but it is usually Karl Malone or Charles Barkley or something. Nobody parts with Jordan inserts! Thanks Jon!

Trade Post - Sushi for me!
Spiegel at Nomo's Sushi Platter and I recently worked out a trade. I sent him a Kirk Gibson relic and miscellaneous stuff and he sent me back a bunch of stuff from my wantlists! Great trade, check out some of the highlights below:
Topps Laser are the beasts of the die cut world. I wonder what machinery they used to make these? The Name plates are sweet too, can't ask for better than 2 future HOF'ers!
Next we have a couple of serial numbered SPx cards. The McGriff is /1000, decent for that old of card. And as always, I love me some shiny! All of these look MUCH better in person and getting a Nomo from Nomo is extra special!
The centerpiece! My 1st Ozzie Smith relic! The Wizard has always been one of my favorites.
Thanks again for the great trade Spiegel !

Trade Post - I love Dimwits edition!
I contacted The Dimwit from The Daily Dimwit last weekend about a trade and we came to a quick agreement. I got my loot today, so I hope Sam gets his soon! Great trade, I love what I got. You'll have to keep an eye out on his blog to see what I sent him. Here's the stuff!
Thome is one of those classy guys. Lately I've heard comparisons to Harmon Killebrew.
This may look like an ordinary G.Q. Gonzalez, but it is actually the Leather version and numbered /10! It has a good texture to it and is also my first A-gon on the Red Sox!
One, Two, Princes kneel before you! That's what I said now! If you aren't old and weird, that's a Spin Doctors reference! Prince Albert and Prince Fielder, which will be a Cubbie next year? Great card!
And THE card of the trade ( at least for me)! Musial is one of my all time faves and though he doesn't get the acclaim of Mantle, Mays, Aaron and others, in my opinion, he is a top 10 all time great. Thanks for the awesome trade!!
